More lead-contaminated Mexican candy seized
Lead-in-candy program starts 2008 with big success
With the passage of AB 121 (Vargas) last year California’s Food and Drug Branch received funding for the important and tough job of tracking down and eradicating lead contaminated candy from all California stores, markets, neighborhoods, and ultimately the hands of children. In this new program Field Investigators of the Food and Drug Branch supported by staff scientists in Sacramento systematically collect quantities of selected imported Mexican candy from retail and wholesale locations.
