Turlock RV dealer under investigation for allegedly collecting bogus charge
AMVIC investigators out of the Stockton office served search warrants on a Turlock RV dealer this week, looking into allegations that it may have been collecting fraudulent fees from some of its customers. According to Turlock Journal article, "several complaints were lodged against the dealership [Best RV] by customers who were charged $750 under the guise of a California inspection fee." One of the vehicles was used as collateral for loans six times
When investigators from the DMV internal affairs division, the CHP, and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department connected all the dots, 14 people were arrested in connection to a title-washing scheme run out of the Fullerton and Los Angeles/Hope Street offices.
