Arbitration Scheduled in Safety Retirement Retroactivity Dispute
Arbitration to Commence March 18-21, 2008
Given the significance of the issues at stake, the parties wanted to ensure that a skilled arbitrator would hear the merits of the grievance filed by CSLEA on behalf of those Unit 7 members who performed prior service in eligible classifications and who have retired, or will retire, after July 1, 2004. Given the demand for skilled arbitrators, Ms. Bogue's earliest availability was March 2008.
Ms. Bogue is one of the most esteemed arbitrators hearing collective bargaining disputes in the State of California. She is a graduate of Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley and has served as a neutral for nearly three decades. Her arbitration experience includes hearing disputes of state and law enforcement employees and issues concerning employee pensions. She is on the permanent panel for the State of California and the Correctional Peace Officers Association. She is also the co-author of the CPER Pocket Guide to Public Sector Arbitration.
Although CSLEA appreciates the frustration of Unit 7 members who have been waiting for resolution of this dispute, it is important that we have the matter heard by an experienced arbitrator who is capable of comprehending and analyzing the complex issues in this case. We will update the home page with any new developments.
